In a bid to entice new customers to the service, Netflix has made some of its best original TV shows and films available to watch for free.
Stranger Things, Bird Box, and The Two Popes are just a few of the streaming service’s exclusive programming that anyone can now watch without a Netflix account.
Historically, the only way for most of us to watch Netflix content for free was to sign up for a limited free trial. That’s changed now with the introduction of Netflix’s Watch Free section.
You can watch the entirety of some Netflix original films, along with the first episode of some TV shows, all for free and without an account.
The exclusives available are Stranger Things, Elite, The Boss Baby: Back in Business, Bird Box, Love is Blind, Grace and Frankie, The Two Popes, Murder Mystery, When They See Us, and Our Planet.
The same content is available globally. According to Netflix, “the selection may change from time to time”. However, due to licensing restrictions, we can assume the offerings will always be one of its original productions.
This isn’t the first time that Netflix has served up free tasters. Last year, the company experimented with giving away the first episode of local shows in India and Latin America.
And in April 2020, Netflix made a host of documentaries free to watch on YouTube.
While Netflix added 15.8 million new subscribers to the service in the first quarter of 2020, giving it a total of 182 million customers worldwide, it’s clear the company isn’t resting on its laurels.
Unfortunately, the free Netflix content isn’t available on every platform. You must use a computer browser (though it won’t work in Incognito mode) or an Android device. You’re out of luck if you use an iOS browser.
