For many of us, The Mandalorian was the sole reason to subscribe to Disney+. A show set in the Star Wars universe, starring a bounty hunter and The Child (colloquially known as Baby Yoda), with a western-style vibe. What’s not to love?
If you wolfed down the first eight Emmy-nominated episodes and have been eagerly anticipating the second season, you’ll be pleased to know that Disney has now confirmed a release date.
As announced by Disney on its Star Wars blog, season two of The Mandalorian will be arriving on Disney+ on October 30, 2020.
As with the first season, and other Disney+ originals, you can expect new episodes to debut weekly rather than all at once.
Disney also showed off a new logo for the season, which you can see in the tweet below.
Despite being less than two months away, we don’t know a lot about season two of The Mandalorian.
That said, there have been a fair number of rumors swirling about what might be in store. These include an appearance from Rosario Dawson as a live-action Ahsoka Tano (previously only seen animated in The Clone Wars), Michael Biehn as a bounty hunter, and the return of Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett.
Additionally, despite not directly confirmed by Disney, the names of those directing are a bit more concrete. The line-up includes Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Peyton Reed, Sin City’s Robert Rodriguez, and (Greef Karga himself) Carl Weathers. Returning from season one are the likes of Dave Filoni and Rick Famuyiwa.
A trailer is expected to debut in the coming weeks.
Happily, season two of The Mandalorian wrapped entirely before the coronavirus pandemic arrived. Disney has already greenlit season three, which is in pre-production, so it’s clear that we’ll be enjoying The Mandalorian for many more years to come.
While you wait for The Mandalorian season 2, you could always watch the first season again. Alternatively, don’t forget about what else Disney+ has available, like The Simpsons, Pixar’s animations, and lots of great classic films.
