One of the main reasons to purchase a smartwatch with Wear OS is its integration with Google. After all, the ability to say “OK, Google” to get things done is advantageous.
However, some users are reporting issues with waking the Google Assistant up with the voice command. Apparently, the issue has been around for some time, as reported by Android Authority.
What’s Happening With “OK, Google” on Wear OS?
The issue first started popping up on Issue Tracker and Reddit, with several users reporting the problem. Some users claim they’re having issues with the Fossil Gen 5, the Oppo Watch, and even the TicWatch Pro 3.
Obviously, your mileage may vary on a problem like this one, and hopefully, you’re one of the lucky ones with a working “OK, Google” feature.
As mentioned, the issue is a bit old, though it just started getting a lot of attention recently. There’s a thread with users complaining on the Google Support forum from all the way back in June 2020.
Where’s the Fix?
Unfortunately, we don’t know when there will be a fix for this issue, as Google has yet to address it. Ideally, Google will notice the increasing quantity of complaints and fix the problem soon, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
