OnePlus is typically pretty good about keeping its phones current with the latest Android software, but the company has been fairly slow to release a stable version of Android 11 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T. Thankfully, that’s changing now, as the company is rolling out a stable Android 11 update.
If you own one of these devices, you should be able to enjoy all the benefits of Android 11 very soon.
Android 11 on the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T
Technically, OnePlus is releasing OxygenOS 11 for the 7 and 7T, which is the company’s slightly modified version of Android 11. If you’re unsure what the primary features of Android 11 are, check out our guide to the best Android 11 features that’ll have you excited to download the operating system.
Obviously, the update features a substantial visual overhaul UI that brings you a more pleasant experience with all sorts of optimizations.
OnePlus is bringing new camera enhancements, including an improved UI that will make snapping photos a more streamlined experience. It also includes support for the HEVC codec that’ll reduce video size, which is always a nice bonus.
One of the coolest features offered by the update is a dark mode improvement that lets you set a specific time range for automatic activation. The company also added a shortcut key for dark mode in the quick setting.
Game Space gets a quick reply and an accidental touch prevention feature that’ll make using it more enjoyable. There are convenient switches for Fnatic mode that’ll let you control notifications. You can choose text-only, heads-up, and block mode, which will make it easier to get immersed in your mobile games.
All in all, it looks like a pretty solid update for users of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T. If you’re the proud owner of one of these phones, you’ll definitely want to download it as soon as possible.
The final piece of the puzzle comes to the phone’s security. It features the February 2021 security patch. We’re a bit surprised the company didn’t include March, but February is still a security improvement.
Android 11 Is Rolling Out Now to the OnePlus 7 and 7T
The update is coming in the form of a staged rollout. Basically, that means it will roll out to a limited set of users, with all users able to download the update shortly thereafter. If you’re impatient and want to download the update manually, XDA Developers has links to the software that you can download to your device.
OnePlus also pointed out the update may take longer than normal to download, as it brings all of the features of Android 11 along with the OxygenOS 11.
