The Raspberry Pi Imager offers a simple way to install an operating system (OS) on your Raspberry Pi, all without the use of a third-party tool, like BalenaEtcher. You can easily flash an OS to an SD card with the Imager, and now, this tool just got an exciting update.
What’s New in Imager v1.6?
In March 2020, the Raspberry Pi team unveiled the Imager tool, and has continued to update it ever since. A post on the Raspberry Pi Blog reveals the latest change coming to the Imager: an advanced options menu.
The Imager was created with beginners in mind, and this change should satisfy more experienced users. The new menu lets you change the default hostname, enable SSH, set your time zone, turn off overscan, skip the setup wizard, and more.
To access the advanced options menu, all you need to do is press Ctrl + Shift + X. You can take a look at it for yourself below.
All of these options can prove to be a huge time-saver for users who are used to configuring these settings manually. And if you want to use your selected settings again, you can opt to save them for the next time you use the tool.
Getting Started With the Raspberry Pi Imager
