When it comes to hardware, gaming is one of the main things that push things forward. PC graphics cards make leaps ahead to enhance the gaming experience, for example.
Phones are no different, as gaming smartphones tend to push the limit in specs and features.
Lenovo is certainly aiming to push the envelope with its Legion Phone Duel 2. The company announced on Lenovo.com that it comes packed with all sorts of interesting features such as cooling fans, two batteries, a pop-up camera, and much more.
What’s Up With the Legion Phone Duel 2?
When you’re playing smartphone games, you’ve almost certainly noticed how hot your device gets. Lenovo aims to fix that by adding two fans to the device that’ll help dissipate heat and keep the phone running cool during those vigorous gaming sessions.
It also comes with dual batteries with a 5,500mAh total capacity, which means you should be able to run even the most graphically intense games for extended periods. That battery is powered by dual USB-C ports and 90W fast charging, which will fill up your phone in about 30 minutes.
There’s also a pop-up camera with 44MP on the side for selfies and live streaming those gaming sessions. And when it’s not in use, it hides away, meaning you don’t need to have a hole punch or notch cutting down your screen real estate.
Speaking of the screen, it’s a massive 6.92 inches, which is about as close as you’re going to get to tablet-sized without going to a foldable device. That screen is a 144Hz AMOLED display with HDR10+ and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. Unfortunately, the screen is 1080p, which is one place the phone is somewhat lacking.
There’s a Snapdragon 888 processor under the hood, and you can load the phone with up to 18GB of RAM. You’re going to have a hard time finding a game that won’t run smoothly on the new Legion Phone Duel 2.
Legion Phone Duel 2 Availability and Price
It’s set to launch in China in April and in the Asia Pacific and Europe regions in May 2021. For North America, the company says, “Availability for North America is to be determined.”
The big question is: what will all these fancy new features and high-end specs cost? It’s actually not as expensive as you might expect. In Europe, the 16GB/512GB memory option with charging dock included will start at €999.00 (about $1190). The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 with 12GB/256GB without the additional charging accessory will start at €799.00 (about $951).
The company didn’t announce the price for the version with 18GB of RAM.
