The koala genome has been sequenced in a world first, by an international consortium of conservation scientists and geneticists. Considered to be the most complete marsupial genome sequenced in terms of quality — on par with the human genome — the highly accurate genomic data will provide information to inform habitat conservation, tackle diseases and help ensure this iconic animal’s long-term survival.
