These clips of kids reuniting with their grandparents are the sweetest thing ever

It’s no secret that quarantine has been tough on families—especially for those who relied on family and friends for childcare and have been struggling without them. Luckily, some provinces in Canada have started to allow for “Double Bubbles” or “quaran-teams,” which refers to the exclusive coming together of two households to make quarantine more bearable for everyone.

With double bubbles starting to come into practice in Newfoundland, parents are posting heartwarming videos of their kids finally reuniting with their grandparents. Now, we aren’t judging, but we aren’t sure grandparents would be the ideal choice to include in a double bubble, since older people are much more vulnerable to COVID-19. However, we don’t know these families’ situations, and the joy experienced by the families in these videos speaks for itself. Take a look:

Who else could use a big hug from Grandma right now, because we know we do. And here’s the full clip of that second reunion, which you should definitely watch with sound because Grandpa’s excitement is over-the-top adorable.

If you still can’t get enough, here are a few more joyous reunions (not videos though, sorry!) that show just how important our familial connections are:

These videos and images definitely brought tears to our eyes, and we know that they can spark a mix of emotions. Yes, there’s shared joy in those tears from seeing how happy these families are to be reunited, but those tears can also be housing jealously or sorrow because maybe double bubbles aren’t yet on the table where you live, or your kids’ grandparents live too far away for them to be a part of your quaran-team, or they aren’t healthy enough to join a bubble any time soon. Just know that we all get it, and we feel that too. Our time will come, but until then, stay safe.
