Facebook’s “Classic” Look Will Soon Be Gone For Good | MakeUseOf

Facebook received a facelift in 2019, and now that new look is now becoming permanent. The option to switch back to Facebook’s old interface will get removed this September.

The old, angular blue and white Facebook interface was once the default Facebook look.

In April 2019, when Facebook unveiled its new design on About Facebook, the old interface was dubbed the “classic” Facebook. The revamped design was immediately released for the mobile version of Facebook, but didn’t reach the desktop site until March 2020.

If you didn’t like Facebook’s new look, Facebook previously let you opt out of the update. You could simply head to the arrow at the top right corner of the screen, and hit Switch to Classic Facebook.

Now, when you want to switch the interface back to the old Facebook, you’ll see a caption underneath the setting that reads, “The classic Facebook will no longer be available starting in September.”

If you proceed to revert back to the classic Facebook, you’ll even get a notification that warns you of the upcoming default design change. The notification also asks you to give feedback about why you want to switch to the classic look.

Come September, the updated Facebook will be the new default. Facebook’s improved design boasts a modern bubbly look. You’ll no longer see the bold blue design that Facebook is known for. Instead, you’ll see a white and gray interface with subtle blue accents.

In the new design, you’ll also notice that everything on your feed looks more spread out, and the menus will no longer appear jam-packed.

The redesigned Facebook also gives you the option to switch to dark mode, and lets you quickly access your contacts on the right side of the screen. On the top menu bar, you’ll get easy access to the Gaming, Groups, Marketplace, and Watch tabs as well.

For anyone who enjoyed using the classic Facebook, the permanent switch to the new Facebook will definitely take some getting used to. But now that the updated interface comes with dark mode, it just might be worth it after all.

With Facebook’s new design change, you might want to start thinking about revamping your own Facebook profile as well. Luckily, there are a number of tools you can use to get a better Facebook profile picture and cover photo.
