High-end phones tend to generate the most excitement amongst consumers. However, when a big company like OnePlus is rumored to be working on a solid phone for $200, it’s hard to ignore.
According to a report from Android Central, OnePlus has a $200 phone codenamed Clover in the works. And it looks like it will boast some pretty solid specs for the price. The insider who has leaked the information is the same one who outed the OnePlus Nord, which ended up being spot on.
Starting with the screen, the rumored OnePlus Clover features a large 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with a modest 1560 x 720 resolution. While not the highest resolution screen, the idea of getting such a large screen for an affordable price will be appealing to many people.
The processor is rumored to be the entry-level Snapdragon 460. The phone is also predicted to feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is on a par for what we’d expect to see from an entry-level phone. It will also have a MicroSD slot for expanding that storage space.
Where the phone surprises is in the camera department. It features three cameras on the back, which is more than we’d expect to see on a phone at this price point. The rumor says that it’ll feature a 13MP primary camera with two 2MP lenses supporting it.
The big deal with this phone is the rumored 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. With the modest specs and lower resolution screen, the rumored OnePlus Clover could actually last for two or more days on a single charge.
The final interesting thing about this potentially affordable phone is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone port. Most phones are moving away from traditional headphone jacks, so it’s nice to see that OnePlus hasn’t completely given up on them.
OnePlus is rumored to be planning to release this entry-level phone globally, including in the US.
Sure, there’s something to be said for the $1,000-plus phones with high-end specs, but it’s nice to see a phone that won’t break the bank on the horizon. And with that 6,000mAh battery, this phone might be hard to ignore.
