Plex Adds Spanish-Language Channels to Its Live TV Offering

Plex is adding a range of live Spanish-language channels to its streaming media platform, in a bid to appeal to a more diverse audience.

Six channels are launching immediately, with 25 additional channels coming in the next few weeks.

Recently, Plex launched free live TV for everyone. Supported by commercials, these 80 channels offer news, travel, movies, and more.

While those channels are great, their appeal is limited by the fact that they’re all in English. To change that, as announced on the Plex Blog, Plex is introducing lots of Spanish-language channels.

The channels are from providers like Sony Canal, Latido Music, Canela.tv, and Runtime Español.

Everything will be free, though the new additions will only be available for Plex users in the United States.

As with the other live TV channels, the Spanish-language content can be watched on all of the usual Plex devices like Roku, Apple TV, Android, iOS, and smart TVs.

Plex will eventually have 31 Spanish-language channels to choose from. That’s a lot of stuff to watch and there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

Comedy fans can enjoy the Sony Comedias channel, which plays shows like Casados con Hijos (Married with Children), La Niñera (The Nanny), and Mi Bella Genio (I Dream of Jeannie).

The Latido Music channel provides around-the-clock music videos, live performances, interviews, and everything you need to party and dance.

Elsewhere, if those classic Spanish-language telenovelas are more your taste, shows like Doña Barbara, Señorita Pólvora, and Paraíso Travel will satisfy your appetite.

Movie buffs can watch free award-winning movies and documentaries that have been dubbed into Spanish, along with native language movies like Penélope Cruz’s Ma Ma or the superbly animated Chico and Rita.

This is just the tip of the iceberg—there’s also reality shows, sitcoms, trivia, funny home video clips, and much more.

For cord-cutters, Plex makes for a great choice. In fact, the service offers so much great free content that you’ll likely never need to subscribe to the paid Plex Pass service.
