If you spend most of your time using a tablet at home, you probably don’t need a rugged slate.
For those who use their tablets while at job sites or anywhere else where a tablet can suffer from drops, water, and dust damage, a rugged tablet is needed.
Samsung just announced a new sturdy tablet called the Galaxy Tab Active3 on Samsung.com, and it looks like a solid device that can handle whatever you throw at it while still packing fairly solid specs.

Starting with the screen, Samsung included an 8-inch LCD with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. Of course, that screen is designed to handle a beating, just like the rest of the tablet.
Inside, there’s the Samsung Exynos 9810 chipset, which comes with an Octa-core chip with 2.7GHz + 1.7GHz power. It also has 4GB RAM and comes in 64/128GB configurations.
Like many of Samsung’s devices, the Galaxy Tab Active3 features S-Pen support. For a device that’s designed to get work done, S-Pen support is a solid inclusion.

Obviously, the main selling point of this tablet is its rugged design. It features IP68 water and dust resistance, 1.5m anti-shock with an inbox protective cover, and MIL-STD-810H certification.
Possibly the most interesting thing about the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 is the 5050mAh user-replaceable battery. You don’t see too many devices with replaceable batteries nowadays, so it’s a nice surprise to see one featured here.
Not only can you replace the battery, but if plugged in, the device can run without a battery installed at all.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 Availability and Price
Samsung announced that the Galaxy Tab Active3 will be available in select markets starting on September 28. Those markets include Europe and Asia, though the company also announced that it intends to release it in other markets eventually, with specific dates to follow.
Despite the imminent release, Samsung hasn’t yet announced the price for the tablet.
