Apple unveiled its premium lineup in the iPhone 12 family, which consists of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Both devices are Apple’s biggest iPhones yet, and come with an array of features that have never been seen on an iPhone.
The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max Are Faster, Stronger, and Bigger
Apple debuted the brand new iPhone 12 at the 2020 Apple iPhone event. The tech giant revealed that the iPhone 12 will come with support for 5G, and that includes the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max as well.
The iPhone Pro is the smaller and cheaper device of the duo. It comes in at 6.1 inches, and sits at a solid $999. Meanwhile, the bigger 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max has a higher price tag of $1,099. The devices also differ slightly in terms of features, which we’ll get into a little later.
Both the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max also sport upgraded hardware. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max are powered by the A14 Bionic, a chip that Apple claims is 50 percent faster than any other smartphone.
The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max also come with an enhanced camera, allowing you to make the most of your smartphone photography. While the 12 Pro boasts a 52mm focal length telephoto camera with a 4x zoom, the 12 Pro Max takes it to the next level with a 65mm telephoto camera with a 5x zoom.
The cameras on both phones even come well-equipped for night shots. The 12 Pro Max has the best low-light performance, with an 87 percent improvement in dark conditions. The 12 Pro has a 47 percent improvement rate, which is still impressive.
Apple is also set to unveil its new, flexible file format for the iPhone Pro series, ProRAW, in late 2020. And as for videos, you can expect to record in HDR with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames-per-second.
On the outside, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max are sleek and nearly bezel-less. The 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max phones are made with surgical-grade stainless steel, and have an ultra-tough ceramic shield screen. They also come in four metallic shades: pacific blue, gold, silver, and graphite.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing commented on the iPhone 12 Pro line in a post on the Apple Newsroom, stating:
iPhone 12 Pro provides a new generation of performance. Our tight integration of hardware and software enables incredible computational photography features like the expansion of Night mode to more cameras, and introduces support for HDR video with Dolby Vision.
For this reason, Joswiak says that the Pro series could be “the best iPhone lineup ever.”
