Previously, we reported how Microsoft had removed the Surface Neo release date from its official product page. Now, rumor has it that the Neo has been delayed until 2022.
What Do the Rumors Say About the Surface Neo?
The rumor comes from MS Power User, which cites an unknown source, saying:
I and others have heard from sources that Windows 10X for dual-screen hardware will be ready in 2022. Surface Neo or a similar device will also launch in 2022.
This rumor has some credibility, as Microsoft is currently erasing any Surface Neo details from the internet. For example, the Surface Neo’s product page now redirects you to a generic Surface information hub. Furthermore, Microsoft is also removing all of its videos featuring the Surface Neo.
It’s fair to say that development of the Surface Neo has been rocky. The Neo’s operating system, 10X, has seen multiple delays due to bugs and the current health crisis. As such, it’s highly likely that the rumors are true and that we won’t see the device resurface until 2022.
More Time Is Needed for the Surface Neo
If you were looking forward to the Surface Neo, you might need to wait for quite a bit longer before any details emerge. The current global climate has caused multiple delays for the system and it may be a few years until we see it resurface.
Hopefully, the delay means that Microsoft has the time to learn from its mistakes with the Surface Duo. After the Duo’s release, reviewers had some less-than-stellar things to say about the device.
