Discord Rolls Out Mobile Screen Sharing

Discord has finally launched screen sharing on mobile devices, a long-awaited feature that makes it possible for you to chat with friends while broadcasting the content on your smartphone.

Whether you want to share your mobile gameplay or remotely watch YouTube videos with your friends, Discord’s mobile screen sharing feature can help you do just that.

Discord Lets You Screen Share on the Go

Discord has offered screen sharing on its desktop app since 2017, and users have since been looking for a way to use the same feature on their mobile devices. It might’ve taken a while, but mobile screen sharing is finally here.

As you might’ve guessed, mobile screen sharing allows you to “share” your smartphone’s screen with friends. This way, your friend can see what you’re doing on your device, or you can see what they’re doing.

It might seem like an invasion of privacy, but it comes in handy when streaming games on mobile, like Among Us, or even watching videos.

Just keep in mind that Discord will stream everything that’s on your screen, including text messages and notifications. The only exceptions are any apps that prohibit screen recording, like Netflix.

How to Start Mobile Screen Sharing on Discord

As outlined on Discord’s Mobile Screen Share FAQ page, mobile screen sharing isn’t much different than screen sharing on your computer or laptop using Discord. After opening the Discord app, you can join friends and start showing off everything that’s happening on your device’s screen.

If you want to start screen sharing from a voice-only call, swipe up on the chat, and hit the Screenshare button. For video calls, hit the Screenshare button that appears at the bottom of the screen.

After that, Discord will ask you if you’re ready to start sharing. If you are, hit Start now. You can stop screen sharing at any time by hitting Stop sharing in the chat window.

In case you just want to watch a stream, you can always join your friend’s screen sharing session by hitting Join/Watch Stream in a chat.

And if you have multiple friends streaming at the same time, you can swap streams whenever you want. Take note that Discord only allows 50 viewers per stream.

You Don’t Always Have to Stream From Your Computer

Discord makes streaming mobile games even easier. The next time you play a game on your smartphone, why not invite your friends to watch?

Discord’s mobile screen sharing feature is available for both iOS and Android devices. If it isn’t available on your app right now, be patient, as Discord notes that some users will get it sooner than others.
