Flic Uses CES Warm-Up Event to Demo Next-Generation Smart Buttons

If you’ve never used smart buttons, you’re missing out. Instead of using your phone or voice to control your smart home, you can just tap pre-programmed buttons and trigger entire routines.

One of the most well-known names in the business is Flic. It joined Sharp at the CES warm-up event, Techfluence, to talk about its next-generation smart button.

We were there to hear what the company’s founder, Amir Sharifat, had to say.

What Do the Flic 2 Smart Buttons Offer?

Called the Flic 2, the next-gen model now lets you use up to three triggers (one push, double push, and hold), each of which can be pre-programmed to a specific task or routine.

Importantly for a smart button, the Flic 2 integrates with all the major apps and hardware in your home. The list of supported services includes Philips Hue, Spotify, Apple HomeKit, SONOS, IFTTT, Zapier, Slack, and Logitech Harmony.

The Flic 2 also features a Universal mode. When enabled, you can make the Flic smart button mimic other types of Bluetooth devices and program actions. For example, you could turn it into a slide clicker during a presentation or as a record button for your webcam.

Amir emphasized that to maximize the Flic 2, you’ll need the company’s Hub Long Range (Hub LR). The Hub lets you run up to 63 buttons simultaneously and adds improved infrared compatibility.

A Hub LR and four Flic 2 buttons are available in the $160 starter kit. If you already have a Hub LR, you can buy a double pack of Flic 2 devices for $50.
