MaskFone Is an N95 Face Mask with Built-in Headphones

For most of us, 2020 was the year we had to start wearing face masks while out in public. The rapid spread of COVID-19 led to most health authorities recommending that you wear a covering to protect yourself and others.

N95 masks are generally considered to be the most effective commercially available coverings. However, they aren’t typically practical for our modern lifestyles. The material makes it hard to make yourself heard, it can be a challenge to interact with your phone, and headphones don’t sit comfortably alongside the mask.

The newly-launched MaskFone might be the solution we’ve all been looking for.

What Is the MaskFone?

N95 face masks can filter at least 95 percent of airborne particles. In most places, they are the most effective form of face-covering available to buy. Although they’ve been around for years, the COVID-19 pandemic put them directly in the spotlight. The MaskFone is, primarily, another form of N95 mask.

However, this edition is stylish, unlike the standard options, with black outer material and turquoise branding. Similarly, the MaskFone stands out thanks to its inclusion of wireless Bluetooth earbuds integrated into the mask.

MaskFone Features

MaskFone is billed as an N95 mask with built-in earbuds. This slightly misconstrues what’s on offer here. The mask itself is just as effective as other N95 masks, and it certainly looks better too. However, it’s a slight stretch to list the earbuds as built-in or fully integrated.

The face-covering has a VELCRO-based opening, which allows earbuds to be slotted into the mask. This is understandable, as you need to remove any electronics to wash your face mask. The MaskFone comes with an entry-level set of Motorola earbuds, but you can always switch these out for your own earphones.

The VELCRO pocket aligns with the playback controls shown on the front of the mask. But, similarly, the controls don’t actually do anything. They have to be lined up with the remote portion of your earphones. In reality, it’s more like a convenient reminder of where to press, rather than a feature.

Where Can You Buy the MaskFone?

Confusing marketing material aside, the MaskFone does solve a very modern problem. Placing the microphone and controls inside your face mask avoids muffled audio recordings made through your mask.

Likewise, with the pandemic set to be ever-present throughout 2021, it makes sense to invest in a high-quality, stylish face mask.

The MaskFone is currently available through the company’s website for $49.99. There are two size options; Small/Medium and Medium/Large.
