The Philips Sonicare Prestige 9900 Gets to Know Your Brushing Habits

Philips just announced the latest addition to its selection of smart toothbrushes at CES 2021. The new brush, called the Sonicare Prestige 9900, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help you achieve a brighter smile.

The Philips Sonicare Prestige 9900 Upgrades Your Brushing Experience

According to Philips, the Sonicare Prestige 9900 is the company’s “most advanced electric toothbrush” yet. It uses SenseIQ technology, which aims to “sense, adapt and care for a personalized approach to oral health.”

While you use the brush, it keeps track of your brushing motions, applied pressure, coverage, how long you brush, and automatically makes adjustments to accommodate your habits. Shockingly enough, the sensors make these detections “up to 100 times per second.”

As an example of how the brush might adapt to your brushing habits, Philips noted that the brush “automatically adjusts the brushing intensity” when it detects that you’re putting too much pressure on your teeth.

For the best results, you can use the toothbrush in conjunction with the Philips Sonicare app. The AI-powered app will give you real-time advice on how to brush better, and these recommendations will improve as you use the toothbrush more.

Once the app has collected enough data, you can check out progress reports on how well you’ve brushed your teeth throughout the past week, month, or even year. And don’t worry—you won’t have to open the app every time you brush. The brush automatically syncs to the app, allowing you to check on your progress when you’re done.

The Sonicare Prestige also comes with an all-in-one brush head. It’s effective enough that you won’t ever have to swap brush heads for different modes or areas of your mouth.

The premium all-in-one head has angled bristles that “help remove up to 20 times more plaque,” and its triangular tips “can remove up to 100 percent more stains in less than two days.” Philips also claims that the brush’s long bristles can make your gums 15 times healthier when compared to a manual toothbrush.

Sonicare Prestige 9900 Release Date and Price

While there’s no word on how much the Sonicare Prestige 9900 will cost, we do have an idea of when it may be released. Philips stated that the new flagship brush will be launched sometime in April 2021.

In other words, we’ll have to wait a short while before we get access to this smart teeth-cleaning machine. Other brands, like Oral B, have already released an AI-powered electric toothbrush. That said, it’ll be interesting to see how the Sonicare Prestige 9900 stacks up in comparison.
