You Can Now Drag Outlook Attachments Directly Into Microsoft Teams

You may not find it too strenuous to download an attachment from Outlook and upload it into Teams, but Microsoft has made it easier to do anyway. Now you don’t need to save the file at all; just drag the attachment over and you’re good to go.

Getting Outlook Files Onto Microsoft Teams

Microsoft didn’t announce this new feature with a lot of fanfare. Instead, you can find the software giant’s confirmation over on the Microsoft Teams UserVoice.

The UserVoice lets people post what they want to see from Microsoft Teams, and others can vote up desired features. At the time of writing, the feature called “Allow drag and drop from Outlook directly to Teams” had accumulated a whopping 11,571 votes.

Fortunately, these people did not go unheard. Alex from Microsoft replied to the thread as such:

Thank you for your feedback. I’m happy to let you know that drag and drop support for file attachments directly from Outlook to Teams is now available.

This update is another step toward making it easier to share Outlook media in Microsoft Teams. Recently, the company confirmed that it’s working on allowing Teams users to share Outlook emails in channels to cut down on needless copy-pasting.

Making Microsoft Teams a Powerful Productivity Tool

As people continue to use Microsoft Teams to get work done in a pandemic-struck world, the tech giant is making the software a productivity powerhouse. You can now share Outlook attachments directly to Microsoft Teams, with the emails themselves becoming shareable at a later date.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has allowed cross-pollination between its services. Recently, it allowed Teams to upload call recordings directly to OneDrive or SharePoint.
