Roku Wants Your Thoughts on Its Rechargeable Remote

Roku is recruiting some people to join its Early Access Program, in order to test out a new remote (called the Roku Voice Remote Pro) that features a rechargeable battery.

It’s a limited time offer while supplies last, though you do still have to pay for the remote.

What Is the Roku Voice Remote Pro?

As first spotted by user Kingtut206 on Reddit, Roku is recruiting people to its Early Access Program in order to test out a new remote called the Roku Voice Remote Pro.

The new remote features a rechargeable battery, a lost remote finder (for example, you can say “Hey Roku, find my remote”), hands-free voice, and personal shortcut buttons alongside the standard branded buttons.

As reported by The Verge, the remote charges via micro-USB, rather than the far superior USB-C. Perhaps feedback gathered through the Early Access Program will acknowledge this.

Participation to the program is by invitation only, though it’s unknown what makes you qualified.

The remote costs $29.99 and is expected to ship on February 19, 2021.

Only 2,000 units will be sold and Roku will gather feedback about your experience with the remote. After that time, we can assume the remote will be refined before potentially being put on general sale.
