See the quirky habit Princess Charlotte picked up from her mom

Princess Charlotte has always been confident with a capital C. (Remember her sassy asides to photographers at Prince Louis’ christening?) But like any little kid, she still gets nervous from time to time, especially when the cameras are flashing, and it seems she’s picked up an adorably quirky habit from her mom—twiddling her ponytail.

The first to notice her copycat move was royal fan account @royalfancams, which posted the now-viral video to TikTok. The first half shows Kate on a work Zoom, twirling her ponytail a few times before laying it flat against her back, followed by a video of then-four-year-old Charlotte on her first day of school in 2019, flipping her ponytail as she walked to the door with her parents and big brother George.

Is she not the cutest? We love a good mother-daughter mini-me moment, and there’s something so sweet about the way Princess Charlotte bats her ponytail nervously on such a big milestone day. Little royals, they’re just like us.

This isn’t the first thing that Charlotte has in common with her mummy. Back in 2019, Kate told former MasterChef winner Saliha Mahmood Ahmed that she likes her curries hot, adding that, “Charlotte is pretty good with heat.” And little Lottie was her mom’s mini-me in the family’s 2020 Christmas card, wearing a kid’s version of Kate’s favourite Penelope Chilvers leather boots.

While the rambunctious royal’s hair habits are all Kate (and she seems to have inherited her mom’s enviable mane, as well), fans are always saying it’s her Gan-Gan who she looks like—and she might just be picking up the Queen’s hobbies, too. The big-ticket item on her 2019 Christmas wish list was a pony, with a source telling The Sun that she’s “obsessed with horses.”

The apple doesn’t fall far from the royal tree: not only is her grandma a longtime horse enthusiast, but the Queen got her first pony at age four. She didn’t start riding until two years later, so hopefully we’ll get to see Princess Charlotte in a riding hat and boots this year (she turns six on May 2!).
