Microsoft Edge’s vertical tabs are a handy way to see your open tabs better, but you currently have no manual control over how much screenspace the vertical tabs have. Microsoft is aiming to fix this by releasing an update that does just that.
Adjusting the Horizontal Element of Vertical Tabs
MS Power User received a tipoff from an eagle-eyed user who spotted this update arrive on Microsoft Edge Canary. Canary is a special testing branch of Edge that receives updates coded the night before, and anyone can download it to see new features for themselves.
In the latest update to Canary, users can customize how wide the vertical tabs window is. This means you can squish it to the side if it’s getting in the way, then stretch it back out again when you need to see the tab names.
If you’re not sure what vertical tabs are and why you’d want to resize them, be sure to check out the original announcement of vertical tabs on Edge.
Put It on Your (Vertical) Tab
Vertical tabs are great, but giving users the ability to adjust how wide they look is even better. Now Microsoft Edge Canary users can do just that, with a worldwide release potentially coming soon.
If you do give Canary a shot, be sure to check out the new download manager that’s currently live on the branch.
