You Might Get the New Microsoft Teams Pro for Free

A little while ago, we covered a planned subscription service for Microsoft Teams called “Teams Pro,” which will unlock additional features for the software. However, Microsoft has then gone on record to say that some people will get Teams Pro for no additional charge to their current plans.

Microsoft’s Statement on Free Teams Pro Subscriptions

In case you need a reminder, we previously covered this topic in our piece on Teams Pro adding webinars to the service.

Now, an article by ZDNet on the same topic has since received a statement from Microsoft. The statement is good news for people worried about paying extra for webinars:

On Feb. 9, we published an MC post regarding a new Teams Pro service plan. To clarify, there is no change to existing product licenses with the addition of this new service plan. Rather, the service plan will be added automatically to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 E5/E3/A5/A3, and Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Business Premium licenses, and will enable users who are licensed for these SKUs to automatically receive capabilities rolling out to Teams in the near future.

Microsoft goes on to state that admins need not do anything to activate these new features. Also, anyone with a compatible license as listed above will get these shiny new features at no additional charge.

Getting More for the Same With Microsoft Teams

Microsoft is rolling out a new Teams Pro subscription plan that unlocks webinars and more, but not everyone will have to pay extra for it. If you#re subscribed to one of the above licenses, you can look forward to getting all of the Teams Pro features for nothing extra.

That’s not to say that people without Teams Pro will be left in the shade. For instance, everyone will soon have access to a handy recap feature in Microsoft Teams.
