Comcast Starts Rolling Out Disney+ and ESPN+ on Xfinity

Comcast has started rolling out Disney+ and ESPN+ apps to selected Xfinity customers from today. This will allow millions of Comcast X1 and Flex customers to stream content from Disney+ and ESPN+ through their XfinityTV boxes.

Stream Content From Disney+ and ESPN+ on Comcast Xfinity

As announced on BusinessWire, Comcast is adding support for Disney+ and ESPN+ apps to its Xfinity TV boxes for X1 and Flex customers. Content from these streaming services will also be integrated across the Xfinity user interface, so you will see content suggestions in the sports, movies, and TV sections.

Comcast Flex customers will be immediately able to enjoy ESPN+ via the ESPN app, with the app rolling out to X1 customers in the coming weeks.

You will also be able to access content from Disney+ or ESPN+ via the Xfinity Voice Remote. You can either say “Disney+” or “ESPN+” or by directly saying the name of the title that you want to watch.

Comcast and Disney+ Billing Integration Missing

Comcast is only bringing the Disney+ and ESPN+ apps to its TV boxes. As Gizmodo notes, there’s no billing integration with Disney. This means you must already have an account with Disney+ to stream content on your Xfinity box.

You cannot directly sign up for Disney+ using the Xfinity box due to the lack of billing integration. However, Comcast notes that it is planning to offer this option “later this year.”

Disney+ has grown to 100 million subscribers in just 18 months of its launch. The streaming service has shows based on some popular characters, including The Mandalorian, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and more.
