How to Delete Apps on Your Samsung Smart TV

It’s great to have apps installed on your Samsung smart TV for all the services you enjoy. However, like any other device, your home screen can get cluttered with too many apps over time. You also might be low on space and thus unable to install new apps.

Thankfully, it’s easy to uninstall apps from your Samsung smart TV. We’ll show you how.

How to Delete Apps From a Samsung Smart TV

To delete apps from your Samsung TV, press the Home button on your remote and scroll over to the left side of the menu, where you’ll find the Apps entry. Hit this to open the main Apps store.

Once there, select the Gear icon in the top-right to open the Settings page. This shows a list of all the apps installed on your TV. Underneath each one, there’s a scrolling menu.

To remove an app from your Samsung TV, simply press Delete underneath the app you want to get rid of, then confirm the operation.

You’ll see the Available space in the top-right bar increase once it’s gone. The size of each app is listed on its download page, allowing you to check if you have enough for the apps you want to install.

Unfortunately, you can’t uninstall all apps from your Samsung TV. Some preinstalled apps, such as Netflix and Hulu, have the Delete option grayed out, so you’ll have to keep them around.

To at least get these out of the way, you can select Move from the same menu and drag unwanted apps all to one side.

How to Remove Apps From Your Samsung TV Home Screen

If you don’t want to (or can’t) uninstall an app, you can still hide it from your home screen without fully removing it. To do this, press Home on your remote, then scroll to the app shortcut you want to remove.

Press Down to reveal a menu below the app, then hit Remove. This will show a confirmation window; select Remove again to take the app off your home screen.

You can always add apps back by visiting Settings as mentioned earlier and choosing Add to Home from the menu under the app.

Remove Unnecessary Apps From Your Samsung TV

While you can’t remove all apps, you now know how to uninstall unwanted apps from a Samsung smart TV. Removing apps you don’t use leaves space for ones you actually want, and you can hide apps from your home screen if you don’t use them very often.

Meanwhile, if you’ve run out of space and decided it’s time for a new TV, there are plenty of great options available.
