Lime Now Lets You Ride a Scooter Without Downloading Its App

Lime, the famous bike and scooter sharing app, now doesn’t require you to install its app to ride a bike. You can now simply scan the QR code on the scooter using your phone, without the Lime app, and start your ride.

Lime Brings App-Less Riding Around the World

As announced on Lime’s website, the company is now bringing the technology to help you get a scooter ride without having to download the Lime app on your phones.

This way, you can get a scooter even when you can’t download or use the Lime app for some reason.

How Lime Will Help Ride a Scooter Without Its App

Lime will utilize iOS and Android’s built-in features to provide an app-less riding experience.

On iOS devices, Lime will use App Clip let you ride a scooter without the full Lime app. You’ll be able to use this App Clip to make a payment for your ride using Apple Pay.

On Android, Lime will use Instant App that helps people access various features of an app without actually having to download the app. You’ll be able to pay for your rides using Google Pay on your Android phone.

Devices Compatible With Lime’s App-Less Scooter Riding

In order to use a Lime scooter without the app, you must have a phone that supports the aforementioned features.

If you use an iOS device like an iPhone, your device must run iOS 14 or later. This is because App Clip was announced with iOS 14, and earlier iOS versions don’t support this feature. If yours is an older iOS version, head into Settings > General > Software Update to update your version.
