PAX East Has Been Canceled, Replaced by PAX Online 2021

Unfortunately, we all knew it was happening when ReedPop and Penny Arcade didn’t sell a single ticket or exhibitors space for PAX East, but the firms have officially announced on PAX’s website that PAX East is canceled.

While it’s unfortunate that east coast US folks won’t be able to attend one of the most fun conventions of the year, ReedPop and Penny Arcade announced that there would be a new event taking PAX East’s place called PAX Online.

What Will PAX Online Offer?

The new online event is scheduled to take place on July 15-18, and it sounds like it’ll be a good time for gamers all over the world.

The companies didn’t announce much about what PAX Online would bring to the table for 2021, but we assume it’ll follow a similar structure to PAX Online last year with a Discord, playable game demos, exhibitors, and so on.

What About Next Year?

According to the blog post, the folks behind PAX are optimistic for 2022. In fact, they ended the post by saying that they “look forward to returning to Boston in 2022,” so hopefully, we’ll be able to celebrate all things gaming in person next year.

Before that, though, ReedPop and Penny Arcade are hopeful that they can run PAX West and PAX Unplugged as planned with in-person festivities on September 3-6 and December 10-12, respectively.
