The leading music-streaming service Spotify is introducing a new Spotify Mixes feature that brings personalized playlists with your favorite artists, genres, and decades.
Spotify Mixes Are New Personalized Playlists
According to the announcement on the Spotify website, this new feature was inspired by Daily Mix, which is the most popular personalized playlist among Spotify users.
Spotify Mixes is a new family of personalized playlists to aid music discovery on the platform. It brings three new personalized playlists based on your favorite artists, genres and decades, aptly titled Artist Mix, Genre Mix, and Decade Mix, respectively.
The new Spotify Mixes playlists include both tunes you’ve already liked and those that the algorithm thinks you might like, based upon your favorite artists, genres, or music decades.
Each mix is created with you at the core, based on your listening habits and the artists, genres, and decades you listen to most. They’re rooted in familiarity, meaning that you won’t just hear your favorite artists, but your favorite songs from those artists. Then, we supplement by adding in songs we think you’ll love, meaning they’ll be filled with the music you have on repeat alongside some fresh picks. So whether you want to jam out to a specific artist or hear more music from another decade, there’s a mix just for you.
This new feature is available to both free and premium Spotify subscribers.
Playlists That Grow With You Over Time
These new playlists will be available within the Search section in Spotify’s “Made For You” hub. Similar to your Daily Mixes, the new Spotify Mixes will be automatically updated with new content, the company has clarified.
“Each mix updates frequently,” Spotify says, “so the possibilities are endless and there’s always something new to discover,” said the company.
