The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is Official With LED-Toting Giant Camera Bump

Xiaomi said that its new flagship is “revolutionizing smartphone photography and videography,” in a blog post. Based on the specs offered by the cameras, the company might be on track to meet that goal.

The new Mi 11 Ultra builds on the already fantastic features offered by the original Mi 11. It takes the already powerful phone and improves it in just about every aspect. The end result is a well-rounded flagship smartphone with one of the most interesting-looking camera bumps we’ve ever seen on a phone.

What’s Up With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra?

Starting with the first thing you’ll undoubtedly notice about the phone, the Mi 11 Ultra has a ridiculous camera bump. On that large bump is a 50-megapixel main lens, a 48-megapixel ultrawide, and a 48-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto.

There’s also a small 1.1-inch 126×294 OLED screen on the camera bump, making it so you can take selfies using the powerful rear cameras. It’s also always on, so you can quickly see key information such as the date and time at a glance. It’s certainly different and unlike anything, we’ve seen before. However, we’re interested to see how useful it ends up being in real-life situations.

The aforementioned cameras are packed with features for video, where you’ll be able to capture shots at 8K 24fps.

The flagship phone comes with a 6.81-inch curved 120Hz 1440p OLED display from Samsung. You’ll get a 515 PPI pixel density, which should lead to some sharp and gorgeous images. That 120Hz refresh rate is always exciting to see, as it really does create a more pleasant experience with the phone. The screen offers 1,700 nits peak brightness and can reproduce 1.07 billion colors.

Xiaomi included the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage in the European version of the device.

As for the battery, the company included a beefy 5,000mAh capable of fast-charging at 67W both with a cable and without wires. It’s rare to see that kind of speed from wireless charging, which is another reason to be excited about this device. In fact, Xiaomi says the phone can get a 100-percent charge in just 36 minutes, which is insane.

While most of Xiaomi’s announcement is focused on the specs, it also comes with an IP68 rating that means it can handle the stuff life throws at it without breaking.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Availability

The phone will launch at EUR 1,199 for the 12GB/256GB version, which is about what you’d expect for a flagship packing such high specs, both on the camera side of things and elsewhere. Xiaomi didn’t announce exactly when the phone would go on sale in Europe.
