Valve has announced the Steam Next Fest, a multi-day event that will celebrate upcoming games with demos, livestreams, and interviews with the developers.
What Is Steam Next Fest?
The Steam Game Festival, which has been around since December 2019, is now called Steam Next Fest.
Valve says it made this change “to more directly communicate its focus”, which is a celebration of upcoming games coming to Steam.
The Steam Next Fest is primarily focussed on highlighting the work from indie studios that might not receive the same exposure as AAA titles from larger developers.
Previous events have hosted over 500 playable demos for upcoming games, along with panel discussions, live playthroughs, and more.
The next Steam Next Fest will take place on June 16 through to June 22. You can opt in to receive a reminder when the event goes live on Valve’s Steam Next Fest website.
You might notice the event is due to take place during the week that traditionally hosts E3, a large gaming industry conference. Last year, E3 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While E3 won’t have a physical presence again this year, the organizers are hoping that they can host an all-digital show, though details haven’t been announced.
