What’s new on Disney+ Canada for kids and families in March 2021

New content is coming to Disney+! The streaming service from Disney has announced which new TV shows and movies will be added to its lineup next year, and of course that means more options for the whole family, including the new movie Raya and the Last Dragon on Premier Access plus new titles for grown-ups from their new content brand STAR (which parents are able to lock for kids through the parental controls). There are quite a few things to look forward to in March, so check out the full lineup with specific release dates below.

But first, an important note: The age recommendations offered below are approximate. Every kid is different, and you’re the best judge of what’s appropriate and what your kid can handle.

Titles for kids:

Raya and the Last Dragon

Best for: 6+
Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting, epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well. With Premier Access for $34.99, viewers can watch Raya and the Last Dragon starting on March 5 before it’s available to all Disney+ subscribers.

Doc McStuffins: The Doc Is In

Best for: 4+
In this animated special, Doc McStuffins interacts with real kids, families and medical professionals about healthy habits. Available March 12

Big Hero 6 The Series, Season 3

Best for: 7+
Hiro and Baymax, along with friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6, protecting their city from scientifically-enhanced villains. Available March 19

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Season 1

Best for: 8+
In present day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow  is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex, set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today. With the help of Gordon Bombay, they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game. New episodes available every Friday starting March 26

Inside Pixar, Batch 3

Best for: 10+
A documentary series of personal and cinematic stories that provide an inside look into the people, artistry, and culture of Pixar Animation Studios. Available March 26

WandaVision

Best for: 10+
Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. Season finale available March 5

Marvel Studios: Assembled

Best for: 10+
Marvel Studios: Assembled is a comprehensive documentary series that chronicles the creation of Marvel Studios’ thrilling new shows and theatrical releases. Journey behind-the-scenes of productions such as WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki via exclusive on-set footage. Assembled is an immersive, and in-depth examination of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Available March 12

Marvel Studios: Legends

Best for: 10+
Marvel Studios: Legends serves as an exciting refresher for the various heroes and villains making their way to the highly anticipated streaming shows premiering on Disney+, setting the stage for the upcoming adventures. Available March 12

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Best for: 12+
Sam Wilson (a.k.a. The Falcon), and Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. The Winter Soldier) team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience. New episodes available every Friday starting March 19

Flicka 2

Best for: 8+
Carrie’s life takes a turn when she moves from the city to her father’s ranch in Wyoming. Soon, she forms a bond with Flicka, a mustang whose free spirit matches her own. Available March 5

Flicka: Country Pride

Best for: 7+
Toby and his horse Flicka find work at a stable owned by Kelly. Soon Kelly’s daughter bonds with Flicka and decides to train him for a competition. But, first they must deal with many adversities. Available March 5

Love, Victor

Best for: 13+
Set in the world of the 2018 film Love, Simon, this series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city and exploring his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school. New episodes available every Friday in March

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

Best for: 12+
A young boy named Jake discovers a house full of children with supernatural powers run by Miss Peregrine. Soon, he must help protect their home from terrifying enemies called Hollowgasts. Available March 12

Gnomeo & Juliet

Best for: 5+
Separated by a garden fence and a feud, are blue gnomes on one side and red gnomes on the other. This doesn’t stop blue Gnomeo and red Juliet from falling in love with each other. Do they have a future together? Available March 26

Own the Room

Best for: 9+
Own the Room follows five young star students on their journey to win one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for student entrepreneurs. From disparate corners of the planet, the competitors take their big ideas to Macau, China, host of one of the most prestigious entrepreneurship competitions in the world, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. Santosh is from a small farming town in Nepal; Alondra works the register at her family’s bakery in Puerto Rico; Henry is a programming wiz from Nairobi; Jason is a marketing machine from Greece; and Daniela is an immigrant escaping the crisis in Venezuela, taking on the chemical industry from her lab at NYU. Jane

Best for: 9+
Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the National Geographic archives for over 50 years, award-winning director Brett Morgen tells the story of JANE, a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific consensus of her time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world. Set to a rich orchestral score from legendary composer Philip Glass, the film offers an unprecedented, intimate portrait of Jane Goodall—a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the world’s most admired conservationists. Available March 12

Titles for grown-ups:

Disney+’s new STAR content brand is generally geared towards grown ups, so the following titles aren’t recommended for kids, but again, every kid is different, and you’re the best judge of what’s appropriate and what your kid can handle.

The Aftermath

Post World War II, a British colonel and his wife are assigned to live in Hamburg during the post-war reconstruction, but tensions arise with the German who previously owned the house. Available March 5

Love In The Time of Corona, Season 1

Four interwoven stories about the search for love and connection during a time of quarantine. Available March 5

Helstrom

Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity – each with their attitude and skills. New episodes available every Friday in March

Genius, Season 2

Grown-ish, Season 3

Code Black, Seasons 1-3

The staff of the LA County Hospital emergency room treat patients under difficult circumstances. Available March 26

Ghost Whisperer, Seasons 1-5
