Adobe has been improving its video editing software one by one. And now, Premiere Rush has received its update. Along with several performance and stability improvements, it also got native support for Apple Silicon Macs.
Adobe’s Lightweight Video Editor Is Now Available on M1 Macs
Adobe Premiere Rush was initially designed for mobile devices. But the recent update means it’s now also available for M1 Mac owners as well. Now, this application can run on Apple Silicon Macs, including the recently released ones, such as the Mac mini M1, the MacBook Air M1, and the MacBook Pro M1.
This video editor also offers enhanced performance for editing and faster export times on Apple M1 computers. All of the widely used file formats are supported as well, so you can be sure that the transition from previous generation Macs will go smoothly.
Moreover, it’s possible to sync projects between all devices, so you can simultaneously work on any Adobe-supported systems: iOS, Android, Apple Intel, Apple M1, and Windows.
As outlined in the Adobe Premiere Rush changelog, other changes this update has brought include:
- Timeline context menu for iOS. All that you should do for the context menu to show up on iOS is tap a video clip on the timeline. You can use this menu to make some important edits, such as split, delete, or duplicate a video. You can also separate the video clip from the audio using the context menu.
- Improved reset function. On the iOS or Android app, the Reset for Color, Audio, and Transforms will remove all of the adjustments. For those who are using the app’s desktop version, clicking on Reset for Color will revert all of the color changes.
- Support for new Android devices. Premiere Rush is now available on Samsung Note 20/20+ phones.
Adobe Premiere Pro Has Also Been Updated
Adobe Premiere Pro has also received an update (to version 15.1), but not as major as the one that Premiere Rush received. The two main changes that were made include Dynamic Lumetri previews and improved export times for the H.264/HEVC formats on Windows.
This application still doesn’t have a native version for Apple Silicon Macs. However, Adobe has already released a public beta version of Premiere Pro with native support for M1 Macs, so it shouldn’t be too long before the full release.
