Apple Arcade Is Expanding With Both Original and Classic Games

Apple’s subscription-based gaming service, Apple Arcade, is expanding its catalog. The expansion comes in the form of two new categories called Timeless Classics and App Store Greats, with more than 30 new titles being added to the service as well.

Two New Categories Have Been Added to Apple Arcade

In a press release on the Apple Newsroom, the company announced that two brand new categories have been added to the Apple Arcade service.

The first one, called Timeless Classics, includes classics everyone has played at some point. Apple Arcade subscribers can now enjoy games from “quintessential genres with titles like Good Sudoku by Zach Gage, Chess – Play & Learn, and Backgammon.” All these games can be accessed by iPhone and iPad users.

Under App Store Greats, users will be able to play the “best award-winning games” from the App Store, brought over to Apple Arcade. These include massively popular titles such as Fruit Ninja Classic, Threes!, and Mini Metro. In addition to this, all titles under App Store Greats will be completely “ad-free and fully unlocked.” Essentially, users won’t have to pay anything extra to access the premium features of the aforementioned games.

New Games Are Being Added to Arcade Originals

Apple hasn’t forgotten about Arcade Originals either.

The first category in Apple Arcade is about to receive a volley of new titles. Games such as NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition, Star Trek: Legends, and The Oregon Trail are all making their way to Arcade Originals.

Matt Fischer, Apple’s Vice President of the App Store, said that these are “brand new games made exclusively for Arcade.”

In addition to these, other games like Simon’s Cat: Story Time, Cut the Rope Remastered, SongPop Party have been added to Arcade Originals as well.

The Biggest Expansion to Apple Arcade, Yet

With more than 30 new games making their way to Apple Arcade, it is the service’s biggest expansion yet. The games themselves are from a variety of categories, appealing to all kinds of users.

Here is what Fischer said about the newest update to Apple Arcade:

Today we’re launching our biggest expansion since the service debuted, now offering more than 180 great games that include new Arcade Originals, Timeless Classics, and App Store Greats.

Apple Arcade, like many other Apple Services, has a free trial available for people who are planning on getting the subscription.

It’s clear to see that Apple has put a lot of faith into its gaming subscription service. With a portfolio of more than 180 games, it does look like Apple’s faith is going to pay off.
