Managing browser tabs is a challenging task for many users, and web browser developers are constantly working to make managing tabs easier. If you use Google Chrome, you’ll soon get a feature that will help you reopen all your tabs in a tab group with a single click.
The Current Way to Reopen Tabs in a Group
Right now, if you need to reopen your tabs in a tab group, you need to open each tab individually. There’s no one-click method to help you do this.
This means getting into the History menu and clicking each tab one by one to restore them in your Chrome window.
Relaunch Tabs in a Tab Group With a Single Click
As first spotted by a user on Reddit, Google is bringing a feature to help you restore all your closed tabs in a tab group with one click. Basically, your closed tabs appear as groups in a Chrome menu, and you can click this single entity to reopen all your closed tabs.
The Chromium Gerrit code note says:
This CL creates a new TabRestore entry type for tab groups. Then, when a user right-clicks on a group header and chooses “Close Group”, the group entry is stored as a single item. The group will then restore as a unit, similar to windows.
There’s currently no news when this feature will roll out to stable Chrome releases. However, we believe that will happen soon.
How to Reopen All Tabs in a Tab Group in Chrome
If you’ve installed Chrome Canary on your computer, you can start using this feature right away. This feature comes enabled by default and so you don’t need to head into any settings to turn it on.
To use this feature in Chrome Canary:
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the Chrome window.
- Hover your mouse over History.
- Find the tab group you want to restore and click it. Alternatively, press the Ctrl + Shift + T keyboard shortcut.
- All the tabs in your selected tab group will be restored.
There’s currently no way to turn this feature off. However, future Chrome releases might offer you a settings option to toggle this option on and off.
Reopening Chrome Tab Groups Gets Easier
It’s inconvenient to click each tab in a tab group to reopen all of the saved tabs. Luckily, with the aforementioned feature, you can bring all your recently closed tabs back to your Chrome window with a single click.
