How to Log Out of Netflix on Roku

Netflix has been available on Roku since day one. Did you know that Roku’s founder was once the vice president of Netflix? As you might expect, the two companies have a good relationship.

If you have Netflix on your Roku, you might want to sign out. Perhaps you temporarily logged in on a friend’s Roku or you are changing account. Whatever the reason, here are all the ways to sign out of Netflix on Roku, no matter what version device you have.

How to Sign Out of Netflix on a Newer Roku Device

To sign out of Netflix on most modern Roku devices, including the Roku 3 and 4, the Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Express, Premiere and Ultra, and the TV operating system Roku TV, the instructions are essentially the same.

  1. Start on the Netflix home screen.
  2. Navigate left to bring up the menu. Scroll down and select Get Help.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to Sign Out, and select Yes to confirm.

If You Don’t See the “Get Help” Option

On newer Roku devices, if the Get Help option is not available, select Settings and sign out that way.

Alternatively, you can open the Netflix app and enter the following sequence: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. After that, you can select Sign out, Start Over, Deactivate, or Reset.

How to Sign Out of Netflix on an Older Roku Device

For older Roku devices, like the Roku 1, and Roku LT, XS, and XD, the process of signing out is slightly different.

On Roku 1:

  1. Press Home to go to the Roku home menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Netflix Settings.
  4. Select Deactivate this player from my Netflix account.
  5. Finally, select Yes.

On Roku LT, XS, and XD:

  1. Press Home to go to the Roku Home menu.
  2. Highlight the Netflix app and press the star key.
  3. Select Remove Channel, and it will remove Netflix.
  4. If desired, you can then restore Netflix by selecting Streaming Channels > Movies & TV > Netflix.

Netflix Isn’t Just Available on Roku

Signing out of your Netflix account isn’t difficult. It’s only a handful of steps, allowing you to quickly sign on using a different account.

Even if you don’t have a Roku, Netflix is available on pretty much every device. Chances are, your smart TV supports it out of the box.
