Sony chose a rather interesting way to announce a new Xperia event. Rather than making a big fuss on social media, Droid Life noticed that the company updated the banner on its YouTube channel announcing an event for April 14 at 4:30 PM Japan Standard Time (3:30 AM EST).
What Will Sony Reveal on April 14?
Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what Sony will announce on April 14, as the banner doesn’t provide any particular hints. It simply says, “Xperia New Product Announcement,” followed by the date and time.
Since the YouTube channel change, Sony has tweeted about the event, generating a little more hype and drawing more attention.

At this point, all we can do is speculate. Currently, there are two reputable rumors regarding Sony’s upcoming smartphone. There are rumors of a flagship called the Xperia 1 III, which would make sense as Sony typically releases a Sony 1 phone yearly. There’s also a rumors of a compact phone called the Xperia Compact, targeting the iPhone Mini.
We can also speculate that it probably won’t be multiple phones, as the banner on Sony’s YouTube channel says “product,” not “products.” However, that could be a mistake in the word choice, and perhaps we’ll get a flagship and compact phone.
