Telegram has rolled out a hefty update for its mobile and web app. The update comes packed with new features for voice chats and payments, and also introduces two revamped web apps.
Telegram Adds Scheduled Voice Chats and More
Telegram unveiled a slew of major updates to the secure messaging app in a post on the Telegram Blog. Scheduled voice chats are just one of these improvements, allowing you to set a specific date and time for a meeting.
If you’re the admin of a group, this is a great way to let everyone know when your voice chat will occur. When the voice chat is about to start, Telegram will push a notification to users’ phones to let them know.
Telegram is also introducing mini profiles for voice chats. Now, you’ll be able to view users’ profiles during voice chats, all without having to close the voice chat window. This makes it easy for you to figure out exactly who you’re talking to. You can also change your profile picture and bio during the chat, just in case you want to make a last-minute change to your information.
Introducing Payments 2.0
Payments 2.0 is Telegram’s new and improved payment system. Now, sellers on the app can take payments from within chats, and won’t even have to leave the app to do so. Stripe, Sberbank, Tranzzo, and Payme, are just some of the payment providers Telegram supports.
Telegram is also giving users the ability to add tips when making a purchase. The payment feature is now available on every Telegram app, and that includes the desktop version.
Telegram Also Launches Two New Web Versions
Telegram isn’t just introducing a single new web version—it’s giving you two to choose from. Both apps are full-featured, and let you use stickers, dark mode, and chat folders.
You can try out both versions, Telegram Web K and Telegram Web Z, to figure out which one you prefer.
Other Features Coming to Telegram
In addition to all these fantastic features, the update also brings new animations to the Android app that make for a smoother transition when tapping the side menu and swiping to your chat list.
The update adds a more intuitive rewind and fast-forward feature for videos, as well as a pinch-to-zoom feature that lets you get a closer look at photos directly in a chat.
If you want to see these features for yourself, make sure to download the latest version of Telegram.
