Apple Is Discontinuing Its Space Gray Mac Accessories So Buy Them While You Can

After discontinuing the iMac Pro series earlier this year, Apple is now discontinuing space gray Mac accessories that it sold alongside the machine.

The regular Intel-based iMac was only available in silver, while the iMac Pro was exclusively available in space gray finish. For the complete experience, Apple also sold compatible standalone Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse 2 accessories in space gray shade for it.

You Can Still Purchase One Until Supplies Last

Apple confirmed to The Verge that it has discontinued space gray Magic accessories for Macs. However, you can still buy the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse 2 in space gray colors from the company’s online store and third-party retailers “while supplies last.”

Once the existing stock is depleted, you won’t be able to buy the Mac accessories in space gray. After that, they will only be available in silver. So, if you have always wanted to buy a space gray Magic Keyboard or Magic Mouse, now is the time to buy one.

The iMac Pro, which was discontinued earlier this year, was also available for purchase until its existing stock was exhausted.

Apple launched the space gray color option for “Magic” Mac accessories alongside the launch of the iMac Pro in 2017. The space gray accessories were first only bundled with the iMac Pro before Apple eventually started selling them separately.

The accessories also work with other Macs, including the latest M1-based MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. Apple still offers the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in space gray color, so it is unclear why it is discontinuing its space gray Mac accessories. This could potentially hint at the company offering its upcoming MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineup in colorful new shades as well.

New M1 iMac Comes With Colorful Magic Keyboard and Mouse

Apple recently launched the M1 24-inch iMac in seven different colors. To go along with it, the company also launched an updated Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. Like the iMac Pro, Apple will bundle the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad in the same color as the one in which you order the M1 iMac.

As of now, though, Apple is not selling the Magic accessories in the new color shades separately. They are only being bundled with the M1 iMac, though eventually, they should be sold separately on its online store as well.
