Coffitivity is an application that lets you interact with virtual people. When you work from home, you run the risk of becoming absolutely bored of working and being alone, thus hindering your productivity.
Sometimes this boredom is enough to make you hide in the crevices of your bed and make you stay there all day long! If you are experiencing such problems, Coffitivity might have a solution.
How Does Coffitivity Work?
As the name suggests, it’s an application based on cafe lounges. Coffitivity offers you an environment that you might ‘hear’ inside a cafeteria.
This whole set of noise consists of people talking, cutlery sounds, soft humming, trays hitting the table, doors opening and closing, and other hard-to-make noises.
Coffitivity is simple to use. Here’s how it works:
- Go to the Coffitivity website on your browser.
- On your left-hand side, you will find a playlist named ‘Cafe Library‘.
- Click on any one of the sounds, and it will start playing.
As the music proceeds, the amount and the intensity of the ‘jargon’ also increases. If you are looking for something calm and not too intense, you can control the volume from the bar given at the side of the play button.
These are some of the musicals you can select from the Cafe Library.
Morning Murmur
Nothing too hasty. A base sound of a murmur runs throughout. You hear people chatting, doors opening, footsteps. Sometimes you will hear a person yawning or a girl smirking. Overall, a normal morning ambiance gradually progresses to higher notes.
Lunchtime Lounge
A typical afternoon snack bar. You will hear trays banging on the tables, coffee pots making sharp noises when put on tables. The people-chatter on this one is quite energetic and sharp. Footsteps are swifter, and a certain hurry is felt.
University Undertones
Most of the sounds are similar. However, the chatter is sharper. It is so audible that it might not even be called chatter at this point. The students are goofy, and there are noises of people throwing things inside the trashcan.
Paris Paradise
The busy streets of Paris are heard in the background of people talking. It is an outdoor cafe.
Brazil Bistro
People and noises are loud here. People are sentimental, and the cafe is alive. Typical to a Brazilian cafe.
Texas Teahouse
People are enjoying a cafe with a slow ambiance and loud noises.
What Makes Coffitivity Unique?
Coffitivity is based on the fact that sometimes people work better with slight distractions. The brain stops itself from going into the dreamy realm when there is something already distracting it. It’s like children studying well when there are other children around.
Coffitivity is not just helpful in being productive; it also helps in being creative. Sometimes people intuitively get worthy ideas while doing mundane tasks like brushing their teeth or eating a sandwich. In the same way, relaxing your mind to mundane noises might fine-tune your intuition.
Coffitivity has cited this quote on their website: “A moderate level of ambient noise is conducive to creative cognition”. You can learn more about this in their Research section.
What More Can You Expect?
Coffitivity is available for free with three sounds (Morning Murmur, University Undertones, and Lunchtime Lounge). The other three sounds are available after a one-time payment of $9. The application is also available offline on Mac and iOS.
You can even add your music with the cafe sounds on the desktop and the smartphone app. Coffitivity will add more sounds with time, and the app will also be available for Windows and Android users.
