Netflix Is Working on Something Called "N-Plus"

Netflix is considering launching a new service for its streaming platform. Called N-Plus, it has been described as a “future online space” where users will be able to “learn more about the Netflix shows you love and everything about them”.

What Would Netflix’s N-Plus Look Like?

While Netflix hasn’t confirmed the features of N-Plus, or if indeed it will ever be released, here’s what we know so far…

Users may be able to create custom playlists containing TV episodes and films that can be shared with others. Think of it like a music playlist, but instead of your favorite tracks, you can have all the best TV episodes for whatever mood you’re in.

Potentially, this playlist feature could also feature the music from content on the streaming platform.

One of the other potential features are exclusive behind-the-scenes and bonus content from shows and films. Behind-the-scenes footage, reviews, podcasts, information about shooting and production, memorial pages, and potentially even user input for planned shows and films could all be a part of N-Plus.

The user input part of the feature may allow Netflix to test out new shows or even renewals for current content. Potentially, popular shows would be saved from being cancelled if fans could show that production is worth it.

Regardless of whether these proposed features are included in N-Plus, Netflix is clearly trying to elevate its service.

The platform already has the best original content, but it wants more. Unique features like these would certainly draw more people to the platform, which is much needed after Netflix’s growth slowed at the start of 2021.

Netflix’s Survey About N-Plus

Netflix hasn’t yet actually announced N-Plus. Rather, it was revealed as a potential plan in a survey that Netflix sent to selected users. It’s not the first time that Netflix has sent out a survey to gauge interest for potential new features.

One Protocol reporter received the survey in an email, and was able to detail what was in the survey.

Netflix said in a statement that the survey was a way of Netflix gauging its users’ interest in potential new features for the platform. It couldn’t provide any concrete details about N-Plus, or confirm if it will ever be released.

The streaming giant has made it very clear that N-Plus is a service still very much in the early stages of development. However, as Netflix has gone through the trouble of conducting user research, the idea could be a bit further along than the drawing board.

Netflix Is Looking to Boost Its Service

Whether Netflix ever releases N-Plus as a service is still a mystery, as is much of the information about how it would look. Either way, Netflix is clearly gearing up to boost its service to the next level—which is certainly not a bad thing for users.
