Sony’s New X-Series Speakers Bring the Party Anywhere

Now that more and more people can get the COVID-19 vaccine, parties are more likely to occur, and what’s a party without some good music?

Sony has been busy working on some powerful Bluetooth speakers. The company announced four new X-Series models on Sony.com, and each one comes with quite a few features that make them perfect for outdoor parties.

Sony’s New X-Series Bluetooth Speakers

First, Sony announced three larger speakers that are meant to serve as modern boomboxes. They’re still small enough to be portable, but they’re also large enough to push out high volumes and lots of bass.

Sony says that all three models come with its so-called “X-balanced” speaker drivers that the company claims to enhance lows and mid while reducing distortion and adding clarity to vocals when you turn the volume up. They also have Mega Bass buttons that add more bass (while also decreasing battery life).

First, there’s the SRS-XP500, which retails for $349.99. It features two front high-efficiency tweeters that’ll hit all those high notes. It’s on the larger side, weighing in at 24 pounds, however, it’s small enough that you can bring it from place to place, but it’s not so small that you’re going to want to carry it around all day.

The XP500 will last about 20 hours when Mega Bass is on, which is enough time to have a pretty serious rager. It also comes with IPX4 water resistance and the ability to charge other devices.

The SRS-XP700 comes with all of the same features offered by the smaller SRS-XP500, but it’s larger and more expensive. It’ll retail for $449.99. Both this and the smaller model have inputs for hooking up a guitar or other instrument to use as an amp of sorts.

The biggest difference between this and the smaller model is a rear tweeter and internal sensors that will adjust the sound based on whether the speaker is verticle or horizontal.

Sony also announced the SRS-XG500, which has the longest battery life. It’ll last 30 hours on a single charge, which is quite impressive. It’s lighter, tipping the scales at less than 20 pounds. It also has a handle that makes carrying it around more enjoyable.

Finally, Sony announced the $60 XB13, which is a more traditional portable Bluetooth speaker. It doesn’t pack the same power as the larger speakers, but if you’re looking for a speaker that won’t break your back, it’s definitely worth a look.

Sony’s New X-Series Speakers Availability

All of Sony’s new speakers are set to ship in June, so you won’t have to wait too long to pick one up.
