You Can Now Remove Vertical Tabs’ Title Bar in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge adds a title bar to the top of the window when you enable vertical tabs. This title bar doesn’t serve as anything useful as it only displays the information that you already see in the tabs on the left. Luckily, you can now remove this title bar from Edge.

Hide Vertical Tabs’ Title Bar in Microsoft Edge

With the release of Edge 91, Microsoft introduced the ability to hide the title bar from the top of the window when the vertical tabs are enabled. With this, you can get rid of that not-so-useful bar and reclaim that space.

Know that the option to hide the title bar currently sits in Edge’s flags, which means the feature is still experimental and is yet to be added to the standard settings menu.

When you enable vertical tabs in Edge, the browser displays a bar at the very top of your screen. This bar contains the name of the web page that’s currently open in the browser.

If you’ve seen this bar, you know that it uses too much extra space on both sides. This is simply the waste of your precious screen real estate.

How to Hide Vertical Tabs’ Title Bar in Microsoft Edge

To hide the title bar, you should have vertical tabs enabled in your browser. If you aren’t sure where to enable vertical tabs, here’s how you do that:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Click the three-dots menu at the top-right corner and select Settings.
  3. On the Settings screen, from the left sidebar, click the Appearance option.
  4. Scroll down to the Customize toolbar section on the right pane, and click Turn On next to Show vertical tabs for all current browser windows.
  5. Your open tabs should now be stacked to the left of your browser.

You can now remove the top title bar as follows:

  1. Put your cursor in Edge’s address bar, type edge://flags, and press Enter.
  2. On the following screen, search for the flag named Vertical tabs hide title bar.
  3. When the flag appears, click the dropdown menu next to it and select Enabled.
  4. Click Restart at the bottom to relaunch the browser.

Your vertical tab’s title bar should now be removed from your browser.

Get Rid of the Unnecessary Title Bar in Microsoft Edge

Since the vertical tab’s title bar doesn’t serve any purpose, it makes sense to remove it to reclaim its space. With the newly introduced option, you can do just that in Edge on your computer.
