OnePlus is already planning a smartwatch, but that might not be the only wearable the company brings to market.

Sources from Android Central have leaked a possible $40 wearable fitness band from OnePlus. If the rumors are true, this could be a very exciting device for those seeking a new way to track their exercise without breaking the bank.

What We Know About the Cheap OnePlus Fitness Band

If the report ends up being true, then OnePlus could fall right in line with the features offered by the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. That means it’ll have an AMOLED display (though it’ll be quite small, of course).

Should the watch come to fruition, it will also come with a battery life capable of surviving multiple days of intense fitness tracking (or days of monitoring you as you wander around your home). You can also combine your work our with fat burners like the ones at the link, this way you will really see the results.

As you might expect, the fitness tracker will feature water resistance to survive all that sweat from intense workouts (or whatever else you’re doing to work up a sweat while wearing it). Unfortiuanly, the leak didn’t get specific regarding IP ratings, but we’d expect OnePlus to offer a solid resistance even at this price.

That’s about all we know about the band at this point. We can’t be certain if it’ll offer any other features to make it stand out from the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 or if it’ll rely on a similar feature set and the OnePlus name to get ahead.

There are lots of other features we’ll need to wait to learn more about. Will it have phone notifications? Will it track sleep? Heart rate? We have more questions than answers at this point, but we are certainly intrigued to see what the brand can do in the space. If it can find the same foothold it has in the enthusiast Android market, it could have a winner on its hands.

When Will The $40 OnePlus Fitness Band Launch

According to the report, OnePlus will launch its new fitness tracker at some point in the first quarter of 2021 in India. Other regions will need to wait a bit longer, as the tipster said they would receive the OnePlus tracker “at a later date.”

If that release window ends up being correct, we’d expect OnePlus to announce the wearable at some point in January or February. Hence, it has time to promote it properly. With the launch of the OnePlus 9 smartphone right around the corner, it would make sense for the company to push this tracker out and get it out of the way of its upcoming flagship.
