How to Delete Old Wi-Fi Networks on Your Android Phone

When was the last time you checked to see how many Wi-Fi networks are saved on your phone? If you’re anything like me, then the answer could be never!

While having a long list of saved Wi-Fi networks isn’t necessarily a bad thing, there may be some connections that you’re never going to use anymore and others that you’d rather your phone not connect automatically to.

Here’s how to forget the Wi-Fi networks you no longer use.

Remove Saved Wi-Fi Networks on Android

Deleting saved Wi-Fi connections from your Android phone is a relatively pain-free process.

  1. Open your phone settings and select Connections or Network & Internet.
  2. On some phones, you can just tap the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to and select Saved networks, then jump ahead to step 5.
  3. On others, head into your Wi-Fi settings and then select Advanced. This may be hiding under a three-dot menu in the top right-hand corner.
  4. In your advanced Wi-Fi settings, select Manage networks. This is usually found beneath Network Settings.
  5. Now you’ll see a list of all the Wi-Fi networks currently saved on your phone.
  6. To delete specific networks, tap them and select Forget.
  7. On some phones you can also select Delete at the bottom of the screen and then pick the networks you want to remove from your phone. This enables you to delete networks in bulk.

Stop Android Auto-Connecting to Certain Wi-Fi Networks

If you don’t want your phone to connect to a network automatically, but you also don’t want to delete it from your phone, then it’s possible to turn off auto-connect for individual Wi-Fi networks.

  1. From the Manage Networks page, simply select the Wi-Fi network.
  2. From here, you’ll see the option to toggle off auto-reconnect.
  3. When auto-reconnect is toggled to off, your phone will not automatically connect to the selected Wi-Fi network.

Resetting Your Network Settings

If Wi-Fi calling isn’t working, or you are selling your phone and want your device to forget all saved Wi-Fi connections, then rather than manually deleting them, it may be best to reset your network settings.

Resetting your network settings will delete saved Wi-Fi networks, forget any paired devices, and will also reset the network settings for any installed apps.
