Over the past few years, most apps have released a dark mode theme. One app that hasn’t yet done so is LinkedIn. But now, a new report from an online researcher suggests that LinkedIn is currently testing a dark mode for its web platform.
LinkedIn Is Working on Web Dark Mode
Jane Manchun Wong, an online researcher and writer, tweeted that LinkedIn is working on Dark Mode for its web platform. If LinkedIn is working on dark mode for web, the platform will become the latest social platform to offer the theme.

From Wong’s tweet, we get a good look at the Dark Mode that LinkedIn is testing. We can see that the background becomes completely black, replacing the previous white background. The body of posts and other features are a slightly lighter black, similar to the Dark Mode offered by Facebook.
Many users prefer apps with a completely black Dark Mode rather than off-black, so this is a welcome redesign. When most modern displays show true black, they can turn off those pixels, which saves battery life and looks better.
In terms of reliability, Wong has a very strong track record. Wong reported on Twitter’s relaunched verification, other recent Twitter features, and countless other design changes. What’s more, LinkedIn has previously mentioned it’s working on a Dark Mode, so it’s a sure thing.
Will LinkedIn Actually Release This Dark Mode?
Given that Wong’s reports are usually very accurate and LinkedIn has confirmed it’s working on a Dark Mode, there’s not much reason to doubt that the feature’s coming.
However, you may remember that LinkedIn previously tested a Dark Mode for its mobile app back in 2019 and never released it. So you might be wondering if LinkedIn will actually release the web Dark Mode.

While we LinkedIn hasn’t shared much, it has previously reported it was developing a Dark Mode. In fact, LinkedIn’s FAQs currently give this response to questions about the anticipated feature:
We’re currently redesigning LinkedIn to make your LinkedIn experience easy, inclusive, and enjoyable. As part of the new LinkedIn experience, we’ll soon be rolling out the option to switch to dark mode.
With an FAQ entry on the feature, it seems pretty certain that LinkedIn won’t end up going back on this Dark Mode.
LinkedIn Will Complete the Social Media Dark Modes
When LinkedIn finally rolls out the new Dark Mode for web, there won’t be a single social media platform that doesn’t offer Dark Mode. While it isn’t the most essential feature, many users will rejoice at the consistency across the web.
Hopefully, we don’t need to wait too long for LinkedIn’s new Dark Mode.
