What We Know So Far About Netflix’s New "N-Plus" Service

Netflix is currently surveying user interest in something called N-Plus, which will enable you to uniquely engage with its content.

The award-winning streaming giant is said to be scoping user interest for the N-Plus feature. Podcasts, user-generated playlists, news, how-tos, games—these are just some things Netflix quizzed respondents on for the mysterious N-Plus in a survey sent to its users.

Netflix remains tight-lipped on exact details, but the survey provides a few hints as to what it could entail. Read on for more info about this mystery touted by Netflix.

N-Plus: An Online Space for Everything Netflix

Netflix has surveyed users about something called N-Plus, which would include a variety of services that allow you to go more in-depth with the streaming service’s content.

In the survey, N-Plus is described as:

A future online space where you can learn more about the Netflix shows you love and anything related to them.

Could this mean Netflix may be working on an exclusive platform for its own content? The company hasn’t released much information on what N-Plus is about, but here’s everything we know about what it could entail, based on the survey.

1. Exclusive Content to Promote Netflix Originals

Netflix could be looking to push promotional content through N-Plus to boost viewing figures for its originals.

This promotional content could include exclusive behind-the-scenes clips, podcasts, interviews, and more.

Netflix has done this before, sharing such exclusive content on social media to boost its wealth of original content.

2. Curate and Share Custom Playlists

Netflix could give you the ability to curate lists of your favorite TV shows and publish them online to share with your friends. Netflix noted that your friends would need to be registered on the platform to access and watch the shows on your playlists. If not, they could see trailers.

Netflix queried respondents on their thoughts on being able to create music playlists from the music featured in Netflix content. This would be a cool feature if N-Plus materializes, considering how tedious it can be to Shazam or manually search for music.

3. Collecting Audience Feedback on TV Shows

Netflix may want to give you a say on its TV shows during the filming stage, giving you the opportunity to influence the development of those shows.

It’s also considering hosting reviews from users with similar viewing taste to yourself, so you can discover new things to watch.

How You Might Access N-Plus

There will presumably be a link to N-Plus on the homepage of Netflix, but that doesn’t have to be the only way you access the platform.

Netflix might be keen to promote it within search engine results; say that you’re looking up your favorite actor on Google, then you land on that person’s N-Plus page and see all the Netflix content they’ve appeared in.

Elsewhere, Netflix might send you push notifications and email newsletters to draw you towards N-Plus. Of course, the ultimate aim being that you then decide to explore Netflix further.

Netflix Seeks to Grow Its Online Community With N-Plus

It sounds like N-Plus could be a platform where Netflix subscribers can engage exclusively with content from their favorite movies and TV shows. This would allow Netflix to use it as a means to strengthen its community and grow its audience as users become influencers of the streaming service.

We don’t know if there’s anything out there quite like N-Plus, but we look forward to seeing what will come to be of it if it pans out.
