You tap a dedicated button, and the meeting host plus other attendees will receive a notification that you’ve raised your hand. An icon symbolizing a raised hand will also appear on your tile, which is visible to everyone.

To raise your hand in a meeting or online class, follow these steps;

  1. Navigate to the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap the hand symbol to raise your hand.

On Android and iOS, you may have to tap your screen first to wake up the bottom control bar. Then, tap the hand symbol to raise your hand.

How to Lower Your Hand in Google Meet

Lower your hand in Google Meet by tapping the Raise hand button again. Alternatively, just like on Zoom, the meeting’s host has the power to lower your hand from their end. If the moderator drops your hand, Google Meet will notify you.

Availability of Google Meet’s Raise Hand Feature

Google’s Hand Raise feature is not available for everyone. Currently, Hand Raise is available on the following Google Workspace editions:
