New product launches always intrigue, and OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new venture is ticking all the boxes.
Pei’s new venture, Nothing, is launching its brand new first product to market, the Nothing ear (1), true wireless earbuds with a unique transparent design, active noise cancellation technology, and best of all, a very competitive price.
Nothing ear (1) Earbuds Finally Revealed
The long wait is over for the Nothing ear (1) true wireless earbuds, which become Nothing’s first product.
You’re immediately struck by the design of the new ear (1) earbuds, the transparent case revealing the similarly transparent earbud design. Nothing has spent months perfecting the aesthetic of the ear (1) earbuds, reasoning that while earbud form factor and design is fairly standardized, time spent on the visual design side will reap the rewards.
The result is a unique take on the earbud with transparent stems and housing, allowing you to look into the manufacturing process, seeing exactly where each carefully placed component lies within. Then there are the small differences, too, like the name of the earbuds carefully printed on the side or the different colored dots to show you which earbud goes where.
We want to bring passion back to technology, by developing an ecosystem of iconic products where artistry, confidence, and craftsmanship rule the day. Ultimately, we want to be creating products that we are proud to share with our family and closest friends
In terms of specs, the Nothing ear (1) comes with an 11.6mm dynamic driver, which is fairly large in terms of earbuds. The driver size should help the ear (1) deliver a really powerful sound and keep the overall soundstage balanced.
Indeed, Nothing has crafted the ear (1) soundstage with one idea: neutrality. Keeping the sound output as flat as possible allows you to experience your music as it should sound.
The earbuds hold up to 6 hours of charge, for a total of 34 hours playback with the charging carry case (which itself has an outstanding transparent design). The carry case is also Qi wireless charging compatible and delivers fast charging, too.
How to Follow the Nothing ear (1) Launch
Given how long Nothing has been dangling the ear (1) earbuds, there are more than a few would-be buyers that want to watch the launch event live.
The nothing.tech site hosts the Nothing ear (1) launch, going live at 14:00 BST (09:00 ET). Hosting the Nothing ear (1) launch is YouTuber Casey Neistat, an early investor in Nothing.
