Fans of Fortnite can upgrade their Switch setup with a snazzy pair of Joy-Cons Nintendo has based around the title.
Nintendo Announces Fortnite Fleet Force Joy-Con Bundle
What better way to pay homage to your favorite battle royale game than with a pair of Fortnite Joy Cons? Nintendo has announced that it will release the special edition controllers to quite the fanfare.
Gear up in style with the Joy-Con Fortnite Fleet Force Bundle, available June 4! Includes a uniquely designed yellow Joy-Con and blue Joy-Con, 500 V-Bucks & a download code for in-game cosmetics.
And be sure to drop into the new @FortniteGame Season starting tomorrow, March 16! pic.twitter.com/QgCiVGy5iW

As the image shows, the Joy-Cons come in split colors (as with the Mario-themed Switch Nintendo recently announced). The left controller is blue and the right controller is yellow.
You’ll recognize these as being everyone’s favorite banana-fied battler, Peely—a popular “epic outfit” from the Fortnite games. In fact, the right Joy-Con features Peely’s inane grin to the front.
We don’t have a price yet, but given that most of the limited edition Joy-Cons cost around $79.99, we imagine that is how much you’ll be paying for the Fortnite bundle. You can buy it from June 4th.
What Else Is in the Fleet Force Bundle?
Obviously, as this is a bundle, you’re getting more than “just” a set of Switch controllers. The package also features some nifty DLC to take your game to the next level.
First, you’ll get 500 V-Bucks, which is Fortnite’s in-game currency. So you can spend this on a new weapon or some cosmetic items. You’ll also get a Peely-themed glider and pick-axe; both cosmetic items for the game.
With another limited edition controller on its way, plus some bonus loot, you’d think Switch Fortnite fans would be happy, but that isn’t necessarily the case.
Not Everyone Is Happy With the Fleet Force Bundle
Judging from the reactions to this announcement tweet (across several Nintendo Twitter accounts, not just Nintendo of America) this isn’t music to everyone’s ears.
Many of the comments come from people complaining about the Joy-Cons in one form or another. However, you guessed it, Joy-Con drift seems to be the chief topic of conversation.
Yay!
Yet another pair of the same faulty $70 controllers that drift after a week of use.— 🎄Alexander❄️ (@Alexander172005) March 15, 2021
Other users are lamenting how difficult it actually is to play Fortnite with Joy-Cons. As many Switch and Switch Lite owners will know, neither system is all that good for fast-paced shooters unless you use the Switch Pro Controller.
Nintendo hasn’t laid the controls out in the most forgiving manner on either the Switch Lite handheld or the Joy-Cons. Both are notoriously difficult to master with shooters.
Too bad fortnite is stupid hard to play on joy cons if you aren’t used to it

There is just no pleasing some people (although they’ve got a point about the drift issue…).
Will You Be Buying the Fortnite Fleet Force Bundle?
This kind of limited edition controller will always be in high demand, so you’ll need to be quick off the mark if you want to secure one. The problem with these is scalpers will also poise themselves to snap up most of the stock.
While there are things consumers can do to beat scalpers, hopefully Nintendo will have its own measures in place to ensure the Fortnite controllers land in the hands of actual gamers and not greedy scalpers.
