Google Duplex Can Now Call Salons and Make a Booking For You

No one likes calling places anymore. Whether it’s calling to make a reservation at a restaurant, or just about anything else you can think of, we all tend to find ways to avoid these calls.

Lots of places have switched to making appointments online, but plenty of places still require you to call in and make a booking the old fashioned way. For example, most barbers and salons require you to call and make an appointment.

To fix this, a new Google Duplex feature will actually call a salon on your behalf and make an appointment for you.

Google Duplex Can Now Make an Appointment For You

Google confirmed to VentureBeat that the haircut booking feature is now rolling out now in the US, though it isn’t yet available to everyone in the region just yet. You can give it a try through Google Assistant, and it might be available for you.

When you use Google Duplex to make an appointment, you simply need to tell Google when you’d like the appointment and it’ll call the place and book the appointment on your behalf.

It’s fairly limited, as it can’t book advanced services like a beard trim, a color, or a perm. However, Google Duplex can book a men’s cut, a women’s cut, or a general haircut. Still, it’s a pretty cool step forward for Google Duplex.

Devices That Can Use Google Duplex

You can use Google Duplex to book a haircut from any device with the Google Assistant app, Google Search, or Maps. There’s no charge to use it, so if you’re the kind of person who hates making calls, it’s definitely worth checking out whether it’s available for you.
